Counseling

Community Youth Services Counseling is provided for children or families with minor children as needed to revolve any issue that threatens family stability.  Limited behavioral evaluations are available.  This service is provided by funding from the Oklahoma OJA (62%) and the Federal DHHS (38%).  Referral services to an appropriate source are provided for any need that is beyond the scope of our services.  Outreach services are available in the following locations by an appointment:

Cherokee - 300 S. Grand,  Cherokee Courthouse

 

Outpatient Behavioral Health Care provides counseling services for Medicaid approved persons because NFS is approved by the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.  All counseling services are provided by Mental Health Professionals who are licensed or in supervision for licensure.

 

Community At Risk Services - CARS specifically targets youth referred by the Juvenile Services Unit for services leading to diversion from the juvenile justice system.  This service is currently founded by the OJA and Northwest Family Services through local contributions.

 

A child who is under the age of three is typically not old enough to receive counseling services.  However, if you believe action needs to be taken then counseling services can be provided to the parent or care-giver as parenting education or stress relief.
